Orlando\u2019s fire chief abruptly announced his retirement this week, just six months after he was sworn into the position.<\/p>\n
Jason Revoldt, a 24-year veteran of the agency, was named interim head of the department after the previous chief,\u00a0Charles Salazar, resigned in October. Mayor\u00a0Buddy Dyer\u00a0officially appointed him to the role two months later.<\/p>\n
The circumstances of Revoldt\u2019s retirement are unclear, though an agency spokesperson said he wasn\u2019t facing any disciplinary action or investigation.<\/p>\n

Orlando\u2019s Chief Administrative Officer,\u00a0F.J. Flynn, sent an email to the department on Tuesday announcing Revoldt\u2019s retirement and informing them that Executive Deputy Chief\u00a0Shannon Teamer\u00a0would be handling day-to-day operations for the immediate future.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m confident that during this transition, the men and women of the\u00a0Orlando Fire Department\u00a0will continue to serve our community and provide the highest level of service that has become the standard of OFD,\u201d the email reads.<\/p>\n
At Revoldt\u2019s January swearing-in ceremony, Dyer said he was a \u201ctrue servant leader.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI have great confidence that he will lead OFD with a focus on the well-being of all of our personnel, with an emphasis on listening, learning and sharing to ensure operational efficiency and helping every member of the department thrive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
