GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -North Central Florida is under a heat advisory Thursday and Friday, with temperatures expected to reach the upper 90s and heat index values climbing into the triple digits due to humidity.<\/p>\n
Meteorologists say today and Friday are expected to be the hottest days of the week. The combination of high temperatures and humidity is making even routine outdoor activities difficult for residents and workers.<\/p>\n
For those who cannot avoid the outdoors, hydration is a priority. <\/p>\n
Lawn Worker Rashad Miller said staying hydrated is a top priority, \u201cI would say just stay hydrated. That\u2019s the most important thing when you\u2019re out here mowing. People do fall out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another Lawn crew member, Reggie Bolen said he adjusts his schedule and fluid intake to manage the conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cTry to stay hydrated. It\u2019s kind of tough to stay hydrated during the heat, though. Drink plenty of water. I always recommend Liquid I.V. It helps you stay hydrated throughout the day,\u201d Bolen said.<\/p>\n
Bolen said he starts work early in the morning and takes breaks throughout the day to avoid overheating.<\/p>\n
Families are also finding ways to manage the heat. Brittany Frew, a local resident, said her family has been splitting time between the pool and the public library.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been playing in the pool, and we\u2019ve also been spending a lot of time at the library. It\u2019s air-conditioned, it\u2019s educational, and they usually have a lot of toys and activities for the kids,\u201d Frew said.<\/p>\n
She also bought a pool for her kids to make fun of the heat conditions, \u201cIt\u2019s been so much fun. We have a big umbrella that we stick next to it so that we have a little bit of shade and a little bit of sun and there\u2019s a little regulation and then we have a table with a cooler.\u201d<\/p>\n
