Tallahassee Fire Department shared photos of damage to the R.A. Gray building following a fire(Tallahassee Fire Department)<\/p>\nTALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Crews battled a fire at the R.A. Gray Building in downtown Tallahassee, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.<\/p>\n
TFD said they received reports of an active fire in the R.A. Gray Building around 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.<\/p>\n
TFD said firefighters discovered an exterior fire associated with construction in the area has spread into the walls of the building.<\/p>\n
The fire spread from the second floor toward the third floor on the south side of the building.<\/p>\n
Construction workers were outside when crews arrived, the building was evacuated and there have been no injuries reported, TFD said. <\/p>\n

Employees who were evacuated were let back in around 6:30 to collect their belongings.<\/p>\n
There have been no reports of damaged artifacts, TFD said.<\/p>\n
According to the fire department, the fire was contained to the second floor wall cavity and did not spread beyond the wall space.<\/p>\n
The cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n
The R.A Gray Building houses the Florida History Museum, State Library of Florida, Florida State Archives and the state elections office.<\/p>\n
