Roughly half a dozen NBA<\/a> teams are sitting back and wondering how they can prepare the most compelling pitch to superstar free agent LeBron James<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Miami Heat<\/a> is among the mix for James, who entered free agency earlier this month after informing the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> he wasn\u2019t going to return for a ninth season with the franchise. The Heat was immediately speculated as James\u2019 potential next team after strengthening the roster by adding Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a> from the Milwaukee Bucks<\/a>. And, well, because Miami is where James played arguably the most elite four-year stretch of his legendary career.\u00a0<\/p>\n

No one, save for James and his agent, Rich Paul, knows what\u2019s next for the NBA\u2019s all time leading scorer. But that is exactly why this offseason has been unlike any other.<\/p>\n

What Can the Miami Heat Offer LeBron James?\"Los\"Los<\/p>\n

All the recent rumblings suggest the Heat is holding off on additional roster moves until James makes a decision. Miami wants to put itself in a sound position to sign James if the four-time MVP chooses to return. According to ESPN NBA insiders Brian Windhorst and Bobby Marks, the Heat can offer James a higher salary<\/a> than the other reported James suitors \u2014 the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>, Golden State Warriors<\/a>, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> \u2014 because Miami is substantially under the first apron hard cap.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Heat have a minimum of two roster spots available and are $10.5 million below the first apron hard cap. If James signs for $7 million, Miami would have enough money to sign a 14th player and remain under the threshold,\u201d Marks wrote.<\/p>\n

Aside from presenting James a potentially higher salary than competing teams, the Heat can also provide James with the opportunity to end his career on a storybook note, something only the Cavaliers can match.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But unlike the Cavs, the Heat has Antetokounmpo, whom James has had interest in playing with for multiple years, according to a recent report.<\/p>\n

\u201cJames, Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a> and Bam Adebayo<\/a> might represent the most athletic and versatile frontcourt in NBA history. Defensively, Antetokounmpo and Adebayo would shoulder most of the defensive burden, and the fast-break options are terrifying to imagine,\u201d Windhorst wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After James entered unrestricted free agency, Windhorst reported the 22-time All-Star\u2019s next decision would be rooted in happiness. Basketball happiness that is.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Would the Heat grant James that? There is a legitimate argument to be made.\u00a0<\/p>\n

James is greatly familiar with the Miami organization and, according to Windhorst, continues to hold it in high regard today. The Heat could be a clean on-court fit for James, too. Still an elite playmaker and distributor at going-on 42 years old, James could slot in seamlessly at the point guard position and play off the high-motor frontcourt of Antetokounmpo and Adebayo.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Heat and the Cavaliers are in their own category compared to the other James suitors.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If it comes down to wanting a glorious finish to his career, both Cleveland and Miami offer that. But if James is at all looking for a bump in salary and a better basketball fit, the Heat may stand out from the rest.<\/p>\n
