{"id":335804,"date":"2026-07-10T15:07:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T15:07:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/335804\/"},"modified":"2026-07-10T15:07:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T15:07:10","slug":"georgia-football-drops-home-game-against-florida-am-from-2028-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/335804\/","title":{"rendered":"Georgia football drops home game against Florida A&#038;M from 2028 schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-text-v2\">Georgia\u2019s 2028 football schedule has an opening after the Bulldogs and FCS foe Florida A&amp;M canceled a game planned for Sanford Stadium.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\">The mutual decision between the schools, confirmed by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday night, leaves the Sept. 9 date open on Georgia\u2019s schedule.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\">The Bulldogs\u2019 2028 slate is already a heavy one, as it\u2019s loaded up with 11 teams from Power 4 conferences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\">UGA has a nine-game SEC schedule in addition to facing Florida State and Georgia Tech.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawgnation.com\/football\/georgia-florida-state-neutral-site-game-be-played-nashville-2028\/J2BL2AJBBJB3FEFDIWMMAVMWZU\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The game with the Seminoles<\/a> at the new Nissan (domed) Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, is one of two neutral site games at NFL stadiums for Georgia in 2028.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\">The Bulldogs will also play the Gators in Jacksonville, Florida, as the new EverBank \u201cStadium of the Future\u201d is expected to be complete in August 2028.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\">Dates for the remainder of Georgia\u2019s 2028 schedule have not yet been set:<\/p>\n<p>At MissouriAt Oklahoma At South CarolinaAt Vanderbilt Auburn (Athens)Alabama (Athens)Arkansas (Athens)Ole Miss (Athens)Georgia Tech (Athens)<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawgnation.com\/football\/around-the-dawghouse\/espn-makes-case-georgia-is-still-gold-standard-despite-recent-playoff-setbacks\/3KFUDD24ZZH4BAFRIS3VYXWXZA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The high number of Power 4 teams on the Bulldogs\u2019 schedule makes it likely UGA<\/a> will schedule another non-threatening opponent in a home game to replace Florida A&amp;M.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\">The Rattlers, who went 5-7 last season, might ultimately have been too light, losing to Florida Atlantic \u2014 the only FBS team they faced \u2014 56-14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\">Smart was not happy with the level of competition an overhauled Marshall team provided in last season\u2019s opening game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\">\u201cI think that team was overmatched a little bit,\u201d Smart said after UGA rolled to a 45-7 home win. <\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text-v2\">\u201cBut that\u2019s beyond our control.
