St. Petersburg, FL – A flight instructor and student safely landed a small aircraft at St. Pete Clearwater International Airport on Thursday after declaring an in flight emergency, prompting a rapid response from airport emergency crews.<\/p>\n
According to airport officials, the aircraft experienced a problem while in the air, leading the pilot to request an emergency landing. <\/p>\n
Air traffic controllers coordinated with the flight crew while firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency personnel positioned themselves along the runway in preparation for the aircraft’s arrival.<\/p>\n
The plane landed safely without incident, and emergency vehicles immediately surrounded the aircraft as a precaution. <\/p>\n
First responders inspected the aircraft after it came to a stop before the flight instructor and student exited safely.<\/p>\n
Officials confirmed neither occupant was injured during the incident, and no injuries were reported on the ground. <\/p>\n
Authorities also said there were no reports of fire, smoke or fuel leaks following the landing.<\/p>\n
