Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/p>\nFlorida Highway Patrol troopers said Law was arrested Thursday night after he accelerated away from a marked patrol vehicle, drove recklessly through highway traffic, and later crashed after exiting the roadway.<\/p>\n
His report states that the incident began just after 11 p.m. when an FHP trooper was patrolling the Homestead Extension of Florida\u2019s Turnpike near Southwest 42nd Street, also known as Bird Road.<\/p>\n
The report states the trooper saw a black Ford Mustang \u201ctraveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph alongside another vehicle.\u201d The vehicles then slowed down and drove next to each other in what troopers said appeared to be an \u201cattempt to race,\u201d according to FHP. <\/p>\n
Authorities said the trooper moved behind the Mustang and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. <\/p>\n
While checking the vehicle\u2019s Florida tag, the report states troopers learned the tag displayed on the Mustang was not assigned to the vehicle.<\/p>\n
The report states that before the trooper could activate emergency lights and siren, Law turned off the Mustang\u2019s headlights and began taking \u201cevasive action\u201d near Northwest 12th Street.<\/p>\n
The trooper then activated emergency equipment and notified 911 dispatchers that a vehicle pursuit was underway.<\/p>\n
Troopers say Law accelerated to speeds exceeding 140 mph while traveling on the highway in \u201clight traffic.\u201d According to the report, Law exited the highway onto Northwest 41st Street, ran a steady red traffic signal, and continued northbound.<\/p>\n
The report states Law then lost traction of the vehicle, causing it to veer left and crash into the inside shoulder wall of the Northwest 41st Street entrance ramp leading to the northbound lanes of the Homestead Extension of Florida\u2019s Turnpike.<\/p>\n
Law was taken into custody just after 11 p.m. and fire rescue personnel evaluated him for possible injuries, according to the report.<\/p>\n
Law was then transported to HCA Florida Doral Emergency center, where he was medically cleared before being taken to FHP headquarters and then into custody. <\/p>\n
According to the report, a records check showed Law\u2019s Florida driver\u2019s license had been suspended since April 27. Troopers said the Mustang was eventually removed from the scene by Excalibur Towing.<\/p>\n
Jail records show Law is facing one count each of fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer at high speed, driving with a suspended license, and displaying a tag not assigned to the vehicle.<\/p>\n
As of Friday afternoon, he was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond was listed as \u201cto be set.\u201d <\/p>\n
