Minutes after speaking with two South Florida outlets in Las Vegas about his time with the Miami Heat, former Heat and current Milwaukee Bucks guard Tyler Herro declined comment on a reported altercation with former Heat teammate Bam Adebayo.<\/p>\n
With a league source confirming that there was an altercation between former Adebayo and Herro at a practice court set up outside of Resorts World Las Vegas on Friday morning, Herro didn\u2019t want to speak about the incident when approached by reporters on his way out of UNLV\u2019s Thomas & Mack Center on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy only comment is no comment,\u201d Herro said.<\/p>\n
ESPN\u2019s Shams Charania first reported the news with just seconds left in the Heat\u2019s 119-86 blowout win over the Bucks to begin Las Vegas Summer League on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Charania reported: \u201cThe altercation occurred at a practice court in a Las Vegas hotel this morning, sources said \u2014 starting when Adebayo approached Herro about comments the guard made critiquing the center on social media after their seven-year run in Miami ended.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to The Athletic, the incident took place \u201cin front of an AAU team run by Herro\u201d when \u201cAdebayo walked onto the courts and Herro said something to him. Adebayo approached Herro and, without hesitation, punched him. Herro\u2019s AAU coach confronted Adebayo, and Herro yelled at his former teammate while being escorted out by security personnel. Both players left the scene on their own.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are aware and not commenting,\u201d a Heat spokesperson said of the incident.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s unclear if any legal charges will be filed because of the incident. It\u2019s also unclear if any team or league-issued punishment for either player could come from this.<\/p>\n
While Herro sat courtside for Friday\u2019s summer league matchup between the Heat and Bucks, Adebayo was not in attendance. Herro did not appear to have any visible mark on his face from Adebayo\u2019s reported punch.<\/p>\n
The Heat and Bucks\u2019 summer league teams are both practicing at Resorts World Las Vegas, which led to Adebayo and Herro running into each other on Friday morning.<\/p>\n
The comments that could have potentially angered Adebayo stem from screenshots of an Instagram direct message conversation shared on X in recent days that show a profile seemingly run by Herro critiquing Adebayo<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhy are Heat fans so worried about me and what I do? But I\u2019m not the best player on the team right?\u201d the account that appeared to belong to Herro wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t say any names. I\u2019m just saying, should an elite defender be making 60 million a year? Answer that.\u201d<\/p>\n Adebayo was the Heat\u2019s highest paid player last season and is due $49.5 million this season. He has been named to an NBA All-Defensive team across six different seasons.<\/p>\n On Instagram last week, Herro also posted a graphic listing the league\u2019s worst midrange shooters last season. Newly-acquired Heat forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was listed as the worst at 26.8% and Adebayo was listed as the 10th-worst at 35.9%.<\/p>\n Asked about his social-media posts, Herro said earlier during his interview with two Heat beat writers on Friday: \u201cYou\u2019ve seen it.\u201d<\/p>\n Asked about what to make of those social media posts, Herro added, \u201cI don\u2019t know either. I don\u2019t know either.\u201d<\/p>\n Herro was part of the trade package that the Heat sent to the Bucks to acquire Antetokounmpo and veteran forward Bobby Portis. The deal was agreed to in late June and finalized on Monday.<\/p>\n Herro was on a $31 million salary with the Heat last season. He was eligible for an extension from the Heat last offseason, but an offer by Miami was never made.<\/p>\n Herro, 26, spent the first seven seasons of his NBA career with the Heat before being traded to his hometown of Milwaukee this offseason. Herro was drafted by Miami with the 13th overall pick in 2019.<\/p>\n Herro was Adebayo\u2019s teammate for the entirety of his seven-year tenure with the Heat.<\/p>\n Adebayo and Herro are two of the most accomplished players in Heat history.<\/p>\n Adebayo ranks second in franchise history in all-time points scored (10,391 points) and total rebounds grabbed (5,756 rebounds), third in all-time assists (2,276 assists) and steals (693), and fifth in all-time blocks (538 blocks).<\/p>\n Herro ranks sixth in franchise history in all-time points scored (7,664 points) and second in all-time three-pointers made (1,068 threes).<\/p>\n This story was originally published July 10, 2026 at 6:34 PM.<\/p>\n Related Stories from Miami Herald<\/p>\n
