WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 Overnight showers and thunderstorms will continue through around sunrise before gradually winding down, setting the stage for another hot and stormy afternoon across South Florida.<\/p>\n

A disturbance in the upper atmosphere has fueled rounds of overnight thunderstorms, but activity is expected to diminish through the morning. After a brief break, scattered showers and thunderstorms will redevelop during the afternoon and early evening, with a few storms capable of producing gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours.<\/p>\n

The biggest weather concern remains the heat. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the 90s, while humidity will push heat index values into the 105 to 110 degree range. A Heat Advisory remains in effect for all of South Florida. Be sure to stay hydrated, wear lightweight, light-colored clothing, limit strenuous outdoor activities, and take frequent breaks in air-conditioned spaces or the shade.<\/p>\n

Storm coverage begins to decrease on Sunday as drier air moves into the region. While a few afternoon thunderstorms remain possible, especially across interior South Florida, rain chances will be lower than average.<\/p>\n

Another plume of Saharan dust will move into South Florida this weekend and linger into early next week. The dust will help suppress thunderstorm development and create hazy skies at times, but it will also allow temperatures to remain very hot as sunshine becomes more abundant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.
