While the injury history certainly remain a concern, what can\u2019t be debated is his pedigree. The former Alabama standout has 64 starts across his six-year NFL career to go along with 20 picks and 63 pass deflections.<\/p>\n
His best season came in 2021 when he racked up a league-high 11 interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. Diggs also earned All-Pro and Pro Bowler honors.<\/p>\n
And as much as the Dolphins remain committed to the youth movement, Diggs certainly fits the bill as he\u2019s just 27 years old. If he can find his 2022 form, let alone replicate what he did in 2021, then the Dolphins could be in a good position<\/a> for the foreseeable future, especially if Johnson continues to improve.<\/p>\n \u201cI think I just need to be myself, you know, be who I know I am,\u201d Diggs told Green Bay Packers On SI in January. \u201cGo out there and perform and performing everything will take care of itself. I\u2019m not chasing accolades. I\u2019m not chasing anything. I\u2019m chasing being a better me, being better every day (and) helping his team win.\u201d<\/p>\n What remains unclear, however, is how coach Jeff Hafley feels about Diggs. Hafley, of course, has a bit of expertise<\/a> when it comes defensive backs considering that\u2019s where he got his start.<\/p>\n Even more intriguing: Hafley coached Diggs for two games with the Green Bay Packers after the franchise claimed him off of waivers towards the end of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n \u201cI liked his physicality,\u201d Hafley said of Diggs after the latter\u2019s first game with the Packers, a 16-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.<\/p>\n Added Hafley: \u201cFor being here for really one practice, I thought he did a really nice job. It\u2019s cool to see the last couple days how he\u2019s integrated with our players how he\u2019s been in meetings and overall, I just think he has more confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n Time will tell if the Dolphins decide to make that move. As of this writing, Johnson, Marshall, Brents, Baker and Bonner seem to have the edge to take home the three starting cornerback jobs. The addition of Diggs, however, could not only inspire further competition but bring out the best in all parties involved \u2014 that is, if the price is right considering the Dolphins\u2019 already strained cap situation.<\/p>\n
