{"id":337314,"date":"2026-07-11T23:53:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T23:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/337314\/"},"modified":"2026-07-11T23:53:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T23:53:08","slug":"cubans-liberation-day-rally-in-miami-marks-5th-anniversary-of-protests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/337314\/","title":{"rendered":"Cubans\u2019 \u2018Liberation Day\u2019 rally in Miami marks 5th anniversary of protests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Published:\u00a0July 11, 2026 at 7:31 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"text text--small text--normal text--primary\">Updated:\u00a0July 11, 2026 at 7:41 PM<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI \u2014 Cuban flags were flying high, and \u201cNuestro D\u00eda Viene Llegando\u201d by Willy Chirino was playing on Saturday during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miami.gov\/towertheater\/Events-directory\/7112026-Liberation-Day-Rally-Art-Exhibition\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.miami.gov\/towertheater\/Events-directory\/7112026-Liberation-Day-Rally-Art-Exhibition\">Liberation Day<\/a> rally in Miami. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The rally in Little Havana marked the anniversary of Cubans\u2019 nationwide protests on July 11, 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Organizers set the main stage between Miami\u2019s Domino Park and the Tower Theater on Eighth Street and Southwest 15th Avenue. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The theater showed \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/habanerofilmsales.com\/portfolio\/cuba-y-la-noche\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/habanerofilmsales.com\/portfolio\/cuba-y-la-noche\">Cuba y La Noche<\/a>,&#8221; a documentary about the protesters in Havana\u2019s San Isidro neighborhood. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The theater was also showing an art exhibit that included works by Yulier P., Dagoga, El Sexto, Tixxapura, Floyd, Osiris Cisneros, Nando, and Taiko.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today marks five years since the Communist Cuban regime brutally suppressed the peaceful July 11 demonstrations and yet again silenced Cubans\u2019 cries for basic rights, dignity, and opportunity.
