The Houston area and its surrounding suburbs apparently have one food palate that loves nearly as much as barbecue, steakhouses, and Tex-Mex: brunch. First Watch<\/a> is looking to capitalize on that with a brand-new location on 288 in the growing city of Manvel.<\/p>\n

The brand’s latest brick-and-mortar location will open at 17315 Highway 6, Suite 107 at Manvel Town Center, a commercial lot that currently has a\u00a0Whataburger, a McDonald’s, an H-E-B, and a recently opened Lowe’s. According to the city’s website<\/a>, the award-winning breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant represents an “$800,000 investment” that will “transform a 4,000 square foot vanilla shell into First Watch’s signature bright and welcoming dining space.”<\/p>\n

For Manvel Mayor Dan Davis, the addition is a welcome one for Brazoria County, which recently added a Frenchy’s location in Rosharon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I’m looking forward to seeing this project get underway and will continue sharing updates as progress is made,” he wrote on his Facebook page.<\/p>\n

Construction is set to begin in mid-August, with a target competition date of mid-November, hopefully allowing the restaurant to\u00a0open in time for the holiday rush.<\/p>\n

Founded back in 1983 by Ken Pendery and John Sullivan, First Watch has expanded to have more than 630 locations in 32 states. 26 of those restaurants are operated by the Mac Haik Restaurant Group, with the Manvel location set to be the 27th. In recent years, the chain’s growth has exploded in the Houston area, with locations popping up on Westheimer and Eldridge<\/a>, Cypress and League City, among others.<\/p>\n

A breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant that closes at 2:30 daily, First Watch is known for its from-scratch menu, especially egg dishes such as the chickichanga (whipped eggs with chicken, chorizo, green chilis and cheese in a flour tortilla), egg sandwiches, breakfast tacos, omelets and frittatas, and BLT Benedict. Other options on the menu include brunch classics such as pancakes and French toast, quinoa bowls, avocado toast, egg whites and turkey wraps.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For those in the area, the closest First Watch was at 11625 W. Broadway Blvd in Pearland or. To date, there are 9 First Watch restaurants in the Houston area, 10 in Dallas, 10 in the Austin area, and 6 in San Antonio.<\/p>\n
