SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (WINK) – A\u00a0storm swept through a Cape Coral neighborhood, leaving behind damage and rattling residents who say they will not forget how fast it all unfolded. The National Weather Service reported a possible landspout in Cape Coral after the storm moved through the area.<\/p>\n
The WINK News Weather Authority is tracking severe storms as they make their way through Southwest Florida.<\/p>\n

Across Cape Coral, people watched lightning flash and rain pour as the storm rolled through. Joseph Pescatris said he and others didn’t stick around to watch.<\/p>\n
“We knew what was coming and we sheltered. So good, good. It’s smart when you hear that noise. It sounds like a train coming,” Pescatris said.<\/p>\n
Next door to a fence that was knocked down, James Guerra was trying to put his tools away. The wind tore through his garage, scattering items across the yard.<\/p>\n
“The wind went through it, took stuff out of the garage into the yard, and it tore a bunch of stuff over here like like a tornado,” Guerra said.<\/p>\n

When the rain stopped, the damage was easier to see. Guerra looked over at the broken lattice and the fence that had been completely knocked down, gate and everything.<\/p>\n
As neighbors started cleaning up, they also made promises to help each other. Guerra said he would help fix the fence and put it back together.<\/p>\n
Neighbors say the storm is a good reminder that Florida weather can change in an instant.<\/p>\n
