Cape Coral\u2019s food truck park located along the Caloosahatchee River is starting a weekly series where attendees can tap into the world of art while enjoying scenic food, good eats, and cold drinks. <\/p>\n
Slipaway Food Truck Park & Marina is launching \u201cMakers Monday\u201d events, a weekly arts and crafts series to be held every Monday at 6 p.m. under The Helm. The series will kick off tomorrow, July 13, and continue through September.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s all about exposure and trying to reach out to different markets,\u201d said Slipway\u2019s general manager Bob Mulroy. \u201cThe arts and craft market is something that we want to get involved with \u2014 looking forward to the art fest here in January. We\u2019re just trying to broaden our reach.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Makers Monday series will feature a rotation of hands-on creative workshops led by local artists. Sessions are designed for participants of all skill levels and will provide the opportunity to learn in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Whether you\u2019re picking up a paintbrush for the first time, experimenting with jewelry making, learning collage techniques or exploring a new craft, you\u2019ll leave with a finished piece and a memorable experience.<\/p>\n
All July workshops will feature Paint & Sip classes led by Stefanie Karas. The class is $45 and includes all materials and one beverage.<\/p>\n
\u201cStephanie has a real nice setup,\u201d Mulroy said. \u201cIt\u2019s just like as if you were taking an art class at a college \u2014 it\u2019s just like a studio. She gets all the easels set up with the canvases, whatever medium they\u2019re working with. She provides all the supplies. People get to come in, get something to drink, get a bite to eat, and she directs the class and teaches you how to paint.\u201d<\/p>\n
Participants can register for upcoming classes at www.SlipawayCape.com\/Makers Monday. Advance registration and payment are required, and tickets are nonrefundable. Workshops will take place under the cover of Slipaway\u2019s main bar pavilion, The Helm, so classes will be held rain or shine.<\/p>\n
Guests are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy dinner from one of Slipaway\u2019s 10 resident food trucks and indulge in additional beverages from the venue\u2019s full-service bar.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can always find something here,\u201d Mulroy said. \u201cIf you\u2019ve got a large group of people, you can pretty much satisfy everybody\u2019s craving. If somebody wants pizza, and somebody wants tacos, and somebody wants Greek food, you can all come to one place and everybody can be happy. That\u2019s what\u2019s a really unique part of what we do here at Slipaway.\u201d <\/p>\n
Visitors are welcome to arrive by boat and tie up at one of the venue\u2019s 26 docks or arrive by car and park onsite for free.<\/p>\n
Slipaway is currently seeking local artists interested in leading workshops in August and September. Instructors must be able to accommodate 25 to 75 participants and provide all required materials.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to do things like paintings and other forms of art,\u201d Mulroy said. \u201cAll different kinds of crafts.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mulroy said Slipaway is also working on other themed nights from Monday through Thursday, such as game nights, bingo, and trivia. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re trying to keep ourselves busy and give the community something new and exciting to do every day,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
Located along the Caloosahatchee, Mulroy said if you\u2019ve never been to Slipaway, it\u2019s a can\u2019t-miss experience. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe views are spectacular,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd now we\u2019ve got that beautiful flag flying above it. We\u2019ve got a great breeze\u2026 after a storm comes through it cools off and we have that onshore breeze. You can\u2019t beat it. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s like being at a resort. You can walk around the expansive property and check it out, and it feels like a resort when you\u2019re out here.\u201d<\/p>\n
