Alex Ovechkin<\/a> has added to his real estate portfolio.<\/p>\n

The Russian outlet RIA Novosti reports<\/a> that the Washington Capitals<\/a> captain recently purchased a new condominium near Miami for approximately $2.1 million, in the same building he bought his original luxury condo for $1.9 million in 2016.<\/p>\n

The report says<\/a> Ovechkin\u2019s new residence spans 2,390 square feet and features four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, a guest bathroom, and two parking spaces. Ovechkin also replaced the flooring throughout the unit with moisture-resistant tile before moving in.<\/p>\n

Ovechkin\u2019s new purchase comes after he resolved a years-long legal dispute over his previous property in the building. The legendary goal scorer has owned that original apartment, a 1,937-square-foot property, for a decade, often vacationing there in the offseason or when the NHL pauses midseason for various events.<\/p>\n

According to the report, a home-owning disaster struck in 2019 when a neighbor allegedly caused extensive water damage to Ovechkin\u2019s apartment after incorrectly connecting a sink drain to the building\u2019s main ventilation system.<\/p>\n

Ovechkin filed a $30,000 lawsuit seeking compensation for the damage, and after the dispute lingered for years, both sides reportedly agreed to a settlement earlier this month. During the legal proceedings, Ovechkin rented out the damaged condo for $10,500 per month.<\/p>\n

In addition to his two Florida condos, Ovechkin also owns other properties in the United States and in his native Russia.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, [I invest in real estate],\u201d Ovechkin said in 2024<\/a>. \u201c[In Russia], of course. We bought an apartment in Miami four years ago. I have a house in Washington. If I had planned to live there, I would have invested and bought there. And, in Russia, both for myself and for investments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ovechkin is currently back in Russia as he prepares for his 22nd season with the Capitals. On July 2, he signed a one-year contract to return to DC for the 2026-27 campaign<\/a>.
