JACKSONVILLE, N.C. \u2014 A Jacksonville woman is facing multiple charges after investigators said she left her 4-year-old child home alone in unsafe and unsanitary conditions.<\/p>\n
According to online arrest records, Acquiese Harris, 26, of Jacksonville, was arrested by the Jacksonville Police Department on July 12. The charges are connected to an incident that allegedly happened on July 11.<\/p>\n
Harris is charged with misdemeanor child abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and exposing children to fire.<\/p>\n
According to arrest warrants, Harris is accused of creating a substantial risk of physical injury to her child by allegedly leaving the 4-year-old home alone for extended periods without adequate supervision or care.<\/p>\n
Charging documents also allege the child was found in unhygienic conditions, including matted hair, an unchanged diaper with fecal matter, and fecal matter on large portions of the child\u2019s skin.<\/p>\n
Investigators further allege the child was left outside on a balcony without supervision for an extended period.<\/p>\n
Arrest warrants also state the child had access to potential fire hazards inside the apartment, including a stove and a torch lighter, while left unattended.<\/p>\n
Online jail records show Harris was later released from the Onslow County Detention Center after posting bond.<\/p>\n
