JetBlue has launched a new route that could quietly become an important boost for Caribbean tourism.<\/p>\n

The airline officially began\u00a0three daily nonstop flights\u00a0between\u00a0Nashville International Airport\u00a0and\u00a0Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport\u00a0on\u00a0July 9, giving one of America\u2019s fastest-growing metropolitan areas a direct connection to one of the Caribbean\u2019s largest airline gateways.<\/p>\n

While the service links two U.S. cities, the real opportunity lies farther south. <\/p>\n

What It Means <\/p>\n

Fort Lauderdale\u00a0has become the centerpiece of JetBlue\u2019s Caribbean strategy, with one of the region\u2019s most extensive networks of nonstop flights. The new Nashville service opens convenient one-stop connections to destinations throughout\u00a0The Bahamas,\u00a0Jamaica,\u00a0Puerto Rico, the\u00a0Dominican Republic,\u00a0Aruba,\u00a0Grand Cayman,\u00a0St. Maarten\u00a0and numerous other Caribbean markets served by the airline.<\/p>\n

For Caribbean tourism destinations, the new flights create another pipeline from a metropolitan area that continues to expand in both population and economic strength.<\/p>\n

Nashville\u00a0has emerged as one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States, attracting new residents, businesses and visitors at a remarkable pace. The addition of three daily JetBlue flights gives travelers throughout Middle Tennessee another straightforward option for reaching the Caribbean through a single connection.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also part of a growing trend that has seen cities outside of the Caribbean\u2019s traditional air belt, from New York to Miami, sending new travelers to the Caribbean, from Detroit to Austin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fort Lauderdale Keeps Growing<\/p>\n

The new route is part of JetBlue\u2019s continued investment in\u00a0Fort Lauderdale, where the carrier has built one of its largest operations.<\/p>\n

This summer, JetBlue is operating nearly\u00a0130 daily departures\u00a0from the airport, with plans to exceed\u00a0150 daily flights\u00a0by the end of the year. From Fort Lauderdale, the airline serves a broad network of Caribbean destinations including\u00a0Nassau,\u00a0Montego Bay,\u00a0Kingston,\u00a0San Juan,\u00a0Punta Cana,\u00a0Santo Domingo,\u00a0Santiago de los Caballeros,\u00a0Aruba,\u00a0Grand Cayman\u00a0and\u00a0St. Maarten.<\/p>\n

The carrier is also continuing to expand its international footprint from South Florida, with new service to\u00a0Barranquillaand\u00a0Cali\u00a0scheduled to begin later this year.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Nashville\u00a0flights were introduced alongside new or resumed service from Fort Lauderdale to\u00a0Baltimore,\u00a0Charlotte,\u00a0Chicago,\u00a0Detroit,\u00a0Houston\u00a0and\u00a0Ponce, underscoring the airline\u2019s continued focus on South Florida as a connecting hub.<\/p>\n

The new service reflects a broader change in Caribbean air travel.
