Murphy USA\u2019s \u201cStore of Tomorrow\u201d is coming to Jacksonville.<\/p>\n
The gas station and convenience store will be one of up to 55 new locations Murphy USA plans to open across the U.S. this year. A press release referred to the stores as part of Murphy USA\u2019s \u201cnext generation retail concept\u201d \u2014 the \u201cstore of tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jacksonville city officials were scheduled to break ground Monday morning at the site of the planned store, located at 1900 John Hardin Drive, which used to be home to a Centennial Bank branch.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are honored that Murphy USA has chosen to invest in Jacksonville,\u201d said Mayor Jeff Elmore. \u201cWith the new Store of Tomorrow opening in the same time frame as the completion of the Interstate 57 construction through our city, travelers through Jacksonville will have the convenience of refueling at a clean, modern facility before returning to their travels. We welcome Murphy USA to Jacksonville and anticipate the impact it will bring.\u201d<\/p>\n
Murphy USA, based in El Dorado, is the former retail arm of Murphy Oil, formerly based in El Dorado as well but now headquartered in Houston.<\/p>\n
The Store of Tomorrow concept will provide customers with a modern experience through an enhanced store layout, expanded product offerings and self-checkout kiosks, according to the release.<\/p>\n
