A Princess Cruises\u2019 crew member who was on a ship that departed from Fort Lauderdale went overboard and died Monday, a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
The Regal Princess departed Saturday from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, and the crew member went overboard in waters off the coast of Canc\u00fan, according to a Princess Cruises spokesperson.<\/p>\n
Maritime authorities and colleagues from Carnival Jubilee helped with search and rescue efforts, a spokesperson said, and the Regal Princess has since departed the waters off Canc\u00fan, with arrival in Belize scheduled for Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Princess Cruises didn\u2019t disclose what led to the crew member going overboard, or how and when their body was found. Their identity was also withheld.<\/p>\n
The Regal Princess is expected to return to Fort Lauderdale on July 18 from its seven-day Caribbean sailing, a spokesperson said. The cruise line \u201cis deeply saddened\u201d by the incident, and grief support services are being offered to guests and crew members affected by the death.<\/p>\n
No additional information was immediately available Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
