{"id":339012,"date":"2026-07-13T22:46:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T22:46:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/339012\/"},"modified":"2026-07-13T22:46:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T22:46:07","slug":"florida-joins-several-states-in-conducting-operation-southern-slow-down-an-anti-speeding-campaign-wsvn-7news-miami-news-weather-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/339012\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida joins several states in conducting Operation Southern Slow Down, an anti-speeding campaign &#8211; WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(WSVN) &#8211; A campaign aimed at saving lives is underway on the streets of Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The Florida Department of Transportation and the Florida Highway Patrol are joining numerous agencies across the country in conducting Operation Southern Slow Down.<\/p>\n<p>The annual multi-state campaign, which runs from Monday through Saturday, combines increased enforcement and public education regarding following speed limits on the road.<\/p>\n<p>The operation\u2019s mission is to reduce the number of speed-related tragedies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpeeding is not worth your life; it\u2019s not worth someone else\u2019s life. We owe it to each other, to our family and to our community to take driving very seriously,\u201d said FHP Lieutenant Indiana Miranda.<\/p>\n<p>Unsafe drivers could face a $500 fine and up to 30 days in jail for a first offense.<\/p>\n<p>The fine doubles on a second offense, and drivers could face up to 90 days in jail.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Sunbeam Television Corp.
