LYNN \u2014 The Lynn Water & Sewer Commission accepted a deed from the city Monday night transferring a portion of Orlando Avenue to the commission.<\/p>\n
The commission unanimously accepted a city deed to Orlando Avenue, a paper street off\u00a0 Daytona Road on the outbound side of Lynnfield Street. A paper street appears on maps and city documents, but only a portion of it was used as an official roadway.<\/p>\n
According to Commission Attorney Sam Vitali, the City Council previously voted to discontinue travel on a portion of Orlando Avenue. The abutting property owners have rights to the land, and there is a piece of land that the Lynn Water & Sewer Commission owns.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the city abandons a parcel, the abutters on either side have rights to that piece, and so the city has prepared a deed to deed us this piece to add to what we already have,\u201d Vitali said.<\/p>\n
Vitali noted that even as the land shifts to the commission, \u201cthe city reserved the rights to maintain the utilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
