ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. \u2013 Virginia Lund-Goerdt just wanted a fence. Four months and more than $8,000 later, she was still waiting for one.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou got $8,100 out of $10,000 from me, and I have nothing,\u201d Lund-Goerdt told News 6.<\/p>\n
How a simple home project turned into a months-long ordeal<\/p>\n
It started in March 2026. Lund-Goerdt contacted a company called SwimShapes for a pool quote. When the price came back too high, she pivoted.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did not realize how expensive pools were,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She decided to install pavers and a fence instead. In April, SwimShapes crews came out and tore down her old fence. Two months passed. No new fence went up.<\/p>\n
The delay hit her harder than most. Lund-Goerdt had foot surgery during that stretch and was on crutches, unable to walk her dogs without a yard to contain them.<\/p>\n
\u201cImagine trying to walk him on crutches,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
News 6 found the permit for the fence wasn\u2019t filed until April 24 \u2014 weeks after her old fence was taken down. She wasn\u2019t issued the permit until June 2.<\/p>\n
Her yard was also left in disarray. Gravel had been dumped on the property for the planned paver installation, but nothing was level.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is supposed to be level,\u201d she said, surveying the mess.<\/p>\n
Contractor kept promising it was \u2018days away\u2019<\/p>\n
When Lund-Goerdt reached out to News 6 in June, she had been trying to get answers from SwimShapes contractor David Remington for weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cDo you know when you\u2019d be able to get this done?\u201d News 6 asked him.<\/p>\n
Remington\u2019s answer was familiar: soon.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019ll be like early next week, but God forbid something happens, you know,\u201d Remington told News 6.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s just kept extending and extending,\u201d Lund-Goerdt said.<\/p>\n
News 6 tracks SwimShapes to vacant office on International Drive<\/p>\n
News 6 Investigator Pavlina Osta tracked SwimShapes to an office building on International Drive in Orlando. Package delivery notices were still on the door. A search of public records turned up an eviction notice from December 2025 showing SwimShapes had been ordered to vacate in three days for failing to pay $5,300 in rent.<\/p>\n
When reached by phone in June, Remington said the company was working to wrap things up.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re trying to get done now. Trying to get done right now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
A week later, the fence still wasn\u2019t up. News 6 called again. This time, Remington blamed a subcontractor.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fence guy, Victor, has not responded except for once. I have not heard from him at all,\u201d Remington said.<\/p>\n
Pavers installed, fence finally up in July<\/p>\n
After four months and repeated calls from News 6, Lund-Goerdt\u2019s project is now complete. She sent News 6 videos of the pavers being installed and confirmed the fence is up.<\/p>\n
For the first time since April, her yard looks the way it was supposed to from the start.<\/p>\n
