Three-star Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Western High School safety Edwin Augustin<\/a> has become a top target for the Louisville<\/a> football staff in recent months.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Augustin has a total of 15 scholarship offers, and the latest was from Louisville<\/a> in mid-June. He said he\u2019s been talking \u201ca whole lot\u201d to safeties coach Derrick Jackson.<\/p>\n

\u201cLouisville<\/a> has been involved in my recruitment heavily,\u201d Augustin told Cardinal Sports. \u201cThey\u2019re showing me so much love, checking up on me almost every day and showing me how I would fit in their program.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good to build a relationship with those guys.\u201d<\/p>\n

Augustin said he will visit Louisville football on Sept. 26 for the Wake Forest game.<\/p>\n

Augustin is coming off a stellar sophomore season on the varsity level at Western. He had 28 total tackles, including 21 solo stops, seven pass deflections, two interceptions, and two caused fumbles in the nine games he played for the Wildcats. Western finished the season at 4-7.<\/p>\n

On the recruiting front, Augustin didn\u2019t pick up his first offer until late January, but it then came fast and furious for him on the recruiting front. Purdue, Florida State, California, Georgia Tech, UConn, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, and Mississippi State were among the first batch of offers.<\/p>\n

Augustin added offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Iowa, Ohio, and Middle Tennessee State during May and then picked up the one from U of L in mid-June.<\/p>\n

While he already has a good start, Augustin has the ball skills and athleticism to pick up even more offers as his recruitment continues to grow over the next few months.<\/p>\n

In the Rivals Industry rankings, Augustin is the No. 564 player in the \u201928 class.<\/p>\n

Scout\u2019s take: Augustin could play multiple positions on a defense, but he has the size and athleticism to stick at safety, and if he does, then he could end up being an elite defender at the next level.<\/p>\n

Louisville<\/a>\u00a0football doesn\u2019t have a commitment yet in the \u201928 class.
