{"id":340041,"date":"2026-07-14T20:47:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T20:47:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/340041\/"},"modified":"2026-07-14T20:47:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T20:47:09","slug":"gina-driscoll-backs-trevor-mallory-to-follow-her-footsteps-in-st-pete-district-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/340041\/","title":{"rendered":"Gina Driscoll backs Trevor Mallory to follow her footsteps in St. Pete District 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">St. Petersburg City Council Member Gina Driscoll is endorsing Trevor Mallory to succeed her in District 6, giving Mallory support from the three most recent representatives of the District.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Driscoll, who is leaving office because of term limits, said Mallory stood out among the candidates seeking the seat.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2019ve been watching this race carefully, and it\u2019s become clear that Trevor Mallory is the best person to represent this District,\u201d Driscoll said. \u201cResidents of the city should be proud to have so many strong candidates willing to step up for this job \u2026 I encourage every resident to cast a ballot for Trevor Mallory on Aug. 18.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Driscoll joins former City Council Members Karl Nurse and Frank Peterman in backing Mallory. All three previously represented District 6, which includes downtown St. Petersburg, Coquina Key and portions of South St. Pete. Mallory\u2019s other endorsements include Pinellas County Commissioner Rene Flowers, Gulfport City Council members Marlene Shaw, Nancy Earley and Jennifer Daunch, and former Gulfport City Council member April Thanos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Driscoll has represented the District since 2018, when she advanced from an eight-candidate field and won the runoff by about 10 percentage points. She won re-election four years later by nearly 40 points.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tgh.org\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/tgh_42212_01_PoliticsSponsor_Banner_728x90_L4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-325032\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTrevor was raised up by this community since his time at Lakewood High, and he clearly cares about giving today\u2019s children the same opportunities he had or better,\u201d Driscoll said. \u201cHe\u2019s been serving St. Pete ever since \u2013 he\u2019s served on City Boards, literally built affordable homes for local families, and now he\u2019s prepared to serve on the City Council.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mallory is President of Neighborhood Home Solutions and has served on several city Boards, including the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Citizen Redistricting Commission and Affordable Housing Lot Disposition Committee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Lakewood High School graduate, Mallory was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays while still in high school. He later returned to St. Petersburg \u201cto build a life rooted in public service and entrepreneurship.\u201d He has worked directly in the creation of new affordable housing, served as a horticulture specialist II for the City of St. Petersburg Parks Department, and has built multiple local businesses.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mallory is also married to his wife of 20 years, a father of four daughters and a longtime youth mentor. In 2019, he began coaching four-year-old tee-ball in a local Little League. He now serves as the league\u2019s President.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mallory faces a field that also includes Children\u2019s Network of Hillsborough CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/756429-terri-balliet-to-kick-off-st-pete-city-council-campaign\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Terri Balliet<\/a>, The Hypatia Collaborative CEO and former President of the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/tag\/linsey-grove\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Linsey Grove<\/a>, Benefits Plus Financial\u00a0 President <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/tag\/doug-homeyer\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Doug Homeyer<\/a> and community organizer <a href=\"https:\/\/floridapolitics.com\/archives\/tag\/jameka-williams\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Jameka Williams<\/a>.
