The Miami Heat<\/a>\u2018s pursuit of LeBron James<\/a> appears to have survived the most important test of free agency.<\/p>\n After weeks of presentations, conversations and recruiting pitches from around the league, ESPN insider Shams Charania<\/a>\u00a0reported Tuesday that James has gathered all the information he needs and is preparing to make one of the biggest decisions of the NBA<\/a> offseason.<\/p>\n \u201cMy understanding is right now as we speak, LeBron James has the information that\u2019s needed to make a decision,\u201d Charania said on NBA Today. \u201cIt\u2019s decision time right now for LeBron James.\u201d<\/p>\n For Miami, the more significant takeaway came moments later.<\/p>\n Charania said five teams remain under consideration\u2014the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>, Heat<\/a>, Philadelphia 76ers<\/a>, Golden State Warriors<\/a> and Minnesota Timberwolves\u2014but identified only three as the current focal points of James\u2019 decision.<\/p>\n \u201cThe feel is that those five teams remain in the mix,\u201d Charania said, \u201cbut a focus on Cleveland, Miami and Philadelphia.\u201d<\/p>\n The update reinforces the Heat\u2019s standing as one of the leading contenders just as James enters the final stage of his deliberations.<\/p>\n Shams Echoes What Other Insiders Have Been Reporting<\/p>\n Charania\u2019s latest reporting aligns with what veteran NBA insider Marc Stein revealed several days earlier.<\/p>\n Speaking during Bleacher Report\u2019s NBA Summer League livestream<\/a>\u00a0in Las Vegas, Stein said James was giving Eastern Conference destinations far more serious consideration than many executives expected.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat I do believe based on actual reporting is\u2026 Cleveland, Miami, Philly,\u201d Stein said.<\/p>\n \u201cHe is looking at Eastern Conference destinations with much more seriousness than I think.
