Elon Musk has acquired Jacksonville-based APR Energy, according to a Federal Trade Commission filing that surfaced the deal weeks after it closed with no public statement from either side. <\/p>\n

The FTC’s early termination notice, transaction number 20261350 and dated May 14, lists Elon Musk as the acquiring party and CF APR Super Holdings LLC as the acquired party, with New APR Energy, LLC listed as the acquired entity. <\/p>\n

It also shows the transaction was granted early termination, meaning no further antitrust review was required before the deal could close. <\/p>\n

No terms were disclosed in the FTC notice itself, but the price tag came into focus through a separate filing. <\/p>\n

Duos Technologies Group Inc. disclosed in a May 28 SEC filing that it had sold its 5% non-voting stake in New APR Energy LLC, the entity that formally holds APR’s assets. <\/p>\n

Duos said the sale of that stake generated $50.4 million in net proceeds, a figure that implies the overall deal is worth at least $1 billion. <\/p>\n

APR Energy \u2014\u00a0headquartered at 10375 Centurion Parkway North in Jacksonville’s Deerwood Park South area \u2014 specializes in rapidly deployable, modular power generation. <\/p>\n

According to the company’s website, it delivers reliable power solutions for industries, utilities and data centers worldwide, with custom power plants engineered to handle high-density GPUs and AI workloads for hyperscalers and data center developers. <\/p>\n

The company also has powered more than 35 countries, delivered over 50 terawatt-hours of energy and can stand up projects in as little as 15 to 30 days, according to the website. <\/p>\n

Fortress Investment Group acquired APR’s assets in late 2024, after which the business became known as New APR Energy while continuing to operate under the APR Energy brand. <\/p>\n

As part of that deal, Fortress entered a two-year agreement with Duos Technologies to manage and deploy the assets, with Duos shifting its focus from railroad safety technology toward energy services for data centers. <\/p>\n

Neither Musk nor Tesla has commented publicly on the acquisition. <\/p>\n

The purchase adds a fast-deployment power generation arm to Musk’s sprawling business interests, which include Tesla’s energy division and its grid-scale Megapack battery storage business, as well as the power-hungry data centers behind his AI venture, xAI. <\/p>\n

For Jacksonville, the deal keeps a growing energy-infrastructure company headquartered locally, even as its ultimate ownership shifts to one of the world’s richest people. <\/p>\n
