Ybor City arts nonprofit Tempus Projects\u2019<\/a> latest exhibit is an ode to the city that shaped its artists.<\/p>\n A press release says that in \u201cOh, Cuore Mia\u201d (\u201cmy heart\u201d)\u2014opening tomorrow during Third Thursday at Kress Contemporary<\/a> and running through Sept. 17\u2014artists \u201creflect on and reinterpret Ybor narratives shaped by migration, labor, resistance, and reinvention in this group exhibition curated by Tempus Projects, with guest juror Jenn Ryann Miller.\u201d<\/p>\n While promoting the show with photographer Dave Decker on WMNF\u2019s Art In Your Ear<\/a> last week, Tempus Projects founder and creative director Tracy Midula emphasized that the show is less about nostalgia and more about how Ybor City\u2019s history and cultural aesthetics influenced local artists.<\/p>\n The show features artwork\u2014photography, video, poetry, screenprinting and more\u2014and vintage ephemera from more than 20 local artists including Decker and Midula. One of those works is a vertical documentary on the sunset of Crowbar<\/a>. The film, \u201cSacred Space,\u201d was created by Tampa filmmakers Tyler Riggs and Aaron Hurley, for their production company Lofty, along with Decker.
