The Miami Heat has apparently seen enough.<\/p>\n

The Heat is shutting down rookie guard Ryan Conwell for the rest of summer league, and he\u2019ll now return to Miami.<\/p>\n

Although Conwell missed Monday\u2019s Las Vegas Summer League loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers because of right hip soreness, the injury is considered minor and is not the reason he\u2019ll miss the rest of summer league. Instead, the Heat\u2019s staff has already seen what they\u2019ve wanted to see from Conwell over the last two weeks.<\/p>\n

Conwell, who the Heat traded up to acquire with the 37th overall selection in the second round of last month\u2019s draft, played in four summer league games.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has a great demeanor about himself,\u201d Heat assistant coach and summer league head coach Wayne Ellington said of Conwell. \u201cHe\u2019s a mature, young player, which is great. He has a work ethic. He wants to get better. He\u2019s willing to get better. He\u2019s asking questions. And then also, you\u2019ve seen it from him in college. He has a knack for scoring. He\u2019s not only a shooter, but he\u2019s able to touch the paint. He\u2019s able to create advantages for himself and for others. And that\u2019s something we look forward to him continuing to do for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conwell (6-foot-3 and 220 pounds) played in three California Classic summer league games in San Francisco, averaging a team-high 21 points, five rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 40.9% from the field and 9 of 28 (32.1%) from three-point range during those three appearances.<\/p>\n

Conwell then played in only one Las Vegas Summer League game before the Heat shut him down. He totaled 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field and 2-of-8 shooting on threes, one rebound and three assists in Friday\u2019s win over the Milwaukee Bucks during that lone Las Vegas appearance.<\/p>\n

Conwell, 22, now returns to Miami to continue preparing for his first NBA training camp and season. The Heat is scheduled to hold its annual media day on Sept. 28 at Kaseya Center before opening training camp on Sept. 29 to kick off the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n

The Conwell-less Heat has two summer league games left to play in Las Vegas. Miami will close summer league play for this year with a matchup against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday (9 p.m., ESPN2) and against the Detroit Pistons on Friday (9 p.m., ESPN).<\/p>\n
