PETERSBURG, FLA. \u2014 St. Petersburg police have charged a man with attempted murder on Tuesday after attacking and disfiguring the victim at Bartlett Park, authorities said. <\/p>\n<p>D\u2019Eauary Thurman, 49, was arrested by the St. Petersburg Police Department for the July 6 crime.<\/p>\n<p>While the victim was lying on a picnic table bench at Bartlett Park at about 6:25 a.m., Thurman approached him and began to \u201cpunch, kick and stomp\u201d the victim, SPPD officials said in a report. <\/p>\n<p>Thurman then stole something from the victim\u2019s backpack and put it into his pocket, <\/p>\n<p>Thurman then left the area on foot after casually filling a water bottle at a water fountain, officials said. <\/p>\n<p>The victim, who suffered disfigurement to his head and face, was listed in critical condition at Bayfront Trauma ER. <\/p>\n<p>A witness positively identified Thurman as the suspect and video of the attack was obtained, the report stated. <\/p>\n<p>Thurman was charged additionally with robbery. <\/p>\n<p>He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on a $300,000 bond.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/JULIE.SALOMONE.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Family and community honor the life of 8-year-old girl killed in accident<\/p>\n<p>Paisley Skye Fratianni-Rollins died after an accident on a UTV.<\/p>\n<p>Family and community honor the life of 8-year-old girl killed in accident<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ST.
