PETERSBURG, Fla. \u2014 From suede to rain to sunshine, it\u2019s a scented candle journey, and Dennis Akers is the guide at <a href=\"https:\/\/thecandlepour.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Candle Pour in St. Pete<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">Owned by Akers and his wife Misty Akers, the St. Pete location is one of four in Tampa and Sarasota.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">When the Tampa family began their small business, they said the first step was researching their extensive scent library.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">More than 100 candles line their walls, each topped with a cork cover.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">\u201cWhat we do is you pop a cork, you smell the cork,\u201d Akers said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">You have a clipboard and free rein, but candle experts help with scent families and ideas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">\u201cIf you\u2019d like it calm and laid-back, we\u2019ve got lavender, eucalyptus,\u201d Akers said. \u201cIf you like fresh or floral, we can do that as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">Once you choose your scents, you\u2019ll use your favorites \u2014 about four \u2014 and fill a small shot glass with the fragrance oils.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">The experience lasts about 45 minutes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">\u201cSo that\u2019s when you go explore \u2014 go have lunch, go have some dinner,\u201d Akers said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">Akers said it\u2019s not completely about the candles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.5rem 0; line-height: 1.6;\">\u201cIt\u2019s about spending quality time with your family, your friends,&#8221; Akers said. &#8220;My job is literally forcing you to hang out for three hours.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ST.
