JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 On This Week in Jacksonville: Business Edition, PCL Construction North Florida area manager Adam Butcher said the completion of One Tower Court in the Shipyards area is more than a new building\u2014it\u2019s proof long-discussed redevelopment is actually happening.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom what the public driving by really is notably seeing is that the project is real,\u201d Butcher said. \u201cA lot of people have seen renderings\u2026 having the completion of that project\u2026 I mean it\u2019s actually there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Butcher credited the vision behind redeveloping what he described as previously underutilized riverfront property.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt really started before we ever put a shovel into the ground\u2026 Shana Khan had a vision to take pretty much underutilized riverfront property there and really put her vision into what it could be,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
And with the Four Seasons project underway next door, Butcher said having multiple anchor developments coming online together matters.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you have multiple projects all coming online and complimenting one another, it really creates kind of an ecosystem and they build off each other,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Beyond the cranes and concrete, Butcher pointed to what he called the \u201cripple effect\u201d\u2014from Jacksonville-based contractors and suppliers to hundreds of workers supporting nearby businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the contractors, the sub-trades, the consultants, the suppliers,\u201d he said, adding the project exceeded goals for Jacksonville Small and Emerging Businesses (JSEB) participation. <\/p>\n
He also described the scale of on-site labor:<\/p>\n
\u201cOur average worker count on this project was over 275 workers\u2026 sometimes it peaked\u2026 over 400,\u201d Butcher said. <\/p>\n
Looking ahead, he argued Jacksonville\u2019s momentum is real\u2014and measurable.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, no, we\u2019re definitely in a build now mode,\u201d Butcher said, pointing to multiple developments activating at the same time.<\/p>\n
