(CBS12)  \u2014 A 37-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/topic\/Marathon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Marathon <\/a>man was killed Monday in a gruesome workplace accident at an industrial site in the Florida Keys.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/topic\/Florida%20Keys%20Sheriff&#039;s%20Office\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Monroe County Sheriff&#8217;s Office<\/a>, Deputies responded to 4250 Overseas Highway in <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/topic\/Marathon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Marathon <\/a>at approximately 11:22 a.m. July 14 following a report of a work-related death.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was identified as Victor Vivian Cano Franco, 37, of Marathon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>According to the sheriff&#8217;s office, the accident occurred at a facility where rock is crushed into smaller pieces for industrial use. Investigators said Cano Franco appeared to have been struck by a front-end loader.<\/p>\n<p>The MCSO said in a statement:<\/p>\n<p>The victim was struck in the mid-section and his body was severed as a result.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
