JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2013 A Jacksonville man who confessed<\/a> to sexually assaulting at least five women he met online was sentenced Thursday to 40 years in prison, after pleading guilty to a string of violent attacks that police say may have left even more victims.<\/p>\n

Brett Pincomb faced charges connected to the sexual assault of at least four women, but investigators believed there may be more victims. The Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office said Pincomb confessed to sexually battering five other women while armed with a knife or taser.<\/p>\n

He pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual battery, two counts of attempted sexual battery, aggravated battery, kidnapping and false imprisonment \u2014 charges tied to four separate attacks against women. On Thursday, a judge sentenced him to 40 years in prison, followed by 10 years of sex offender probation. He must also register as a sexual predator.<\/p>\n

In every case, police say he met his alleged victims online through an undisclosed app.<\/p>\n

Alleged attack in elevator<\/p>\n

The most recent alleged incident<\/a> began when a woman Pincomb contacted online arrived at the Point Meadows Apartment complex via rideshare. According to police, Pincomb followed the woman into the elevator without identifying himself, then pulled a knife from his pocket and demanded she remove her clothing.<\/p>\n

The woman was able to distract him long enough to push the emergency call button inside the elevator, stopping it from moving. When an operator answered over the speaker, she screamed, startling Pincomb. When the elevator doors opened, she was able to escape. Pincomb was later taken into custody.<\/p>\n

Pattern of alleged assaults<\/p>\n

Police say three of the alleged assaults occurred on three consecutive days. The most recent incident preceded by an alleged attempted kidnapping and sexual assault inside Pincomb\u2019s apartment unit the prior Thursday, and another incident the day before that, in which police say he held a victim against their will and sexually battered them.<\/p>\n

In all of the cases, police say Pincomb met his alleged victims online.<\/p>\n

It remains unclear whether Pincomb lived alone. According to one police report, an older man walked into Pincomb\u2019s bedroom during one of the alleged sexual assaults. Investigators say there may be additional victims beyond those already identified.<\/p>\n
