The U.S. Navy announced that it will be conducting a safety review after videos began circulating online of the Navy\u2019s flight demonstration squadron flying dangerously close to civilians on a Florida beach.<\/p>\n
The service acknowledged that an aircraft from the Navy\u2019s Blue Angels flew \u201clower than standard profiles\u201d over Pensacola Beach on Wednesday, creating a disturbance that affected civilian chairs and umbrellas.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe safety of our hometown community, spectators, and our pilots is our highest priority,\u201d the Navy said. \u201cTeam leadership is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the maneuver and conducting a thorough safety review to ensure all operations adhere to strict Navy and FAA safety standards.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the tenor of the Navy\u2019s statement, the Trump administration appeared to embrace the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe flyovers will continue until morale improves,\u201d Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said<\/a> in a social media post.<\/p>\n On X, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell uploaded<\/a> a screen grab from one of the viral videos with a caption that read, \u201cCarry on patriots.\u201d<\/p>\n And the White House posted an animated picture of the event with the word \u201cfreedom\u201d emblazoned across it and a caption that said<\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s okay to love America.\u201d<\/p>\n Founded in 1946, the Navy Blue Angels comprise<\/a> 158 active-duty sailors and Marines who perform flight demonstrations across the country.<\/p>\n
