ST. PETERSBURG,Fla. (WFLA) \u2014 St. Pete Police are looking for two men caught on surveillance camera causing nearly $100,000 in damage to a luxury condo tower downtown.<\/p>\n
“We have a lot of cameras in the downtown area and we are watching,” said Ken Knight, public information specialist with St. Pete Police.<\/p>\n
Two men were seen on surveillance video walking on the sidewalk when one of them was seen stopping to rip up the building’s lighting and use a baseball-style pitch to throw the light at the windows of the 400 Central building over and over.<\/p>\n
“This is some clowns who weren’t necessarily all that sober at the moment,” said St. Pete resident Charlie Davenport.<\/p>\n
400 Central is the largest residential tower in the city. The bottom floor of the building is still under construction.<\/p>\n
“I think it was just some people, maybe had a little bit too much to drink, maybe had a little bit too much fun,” said Antonio Taylor, another resident. “They’re like, ‘Okay, let’s do something.'”<\/p>\n
Police aren’t sure where the men were coming from or where they went. As far as why they decided to take it out on the building.<\/p>\n
“That’s a mystery to us,” said Knight. “Hopefully we will get a chance to chat with them and figure out why they were so upset that they chose to do this act of vandalism.”<\/p>\n
They’re asking anyone who recognizes either of the two men or has more information to contact them.<\/p>\n
