{"id":342801,"date":"2026-07-16T23:06:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T23:06:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/342801\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T23:06:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T23:06:11","slug":"driver-dead-after-truck-accident-on-floridas-turnpike-causing-all-lanes-to-shut-down-officials-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/342801\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver dead after truck accident on Florida&#8217;s Turnpike causing all lanes to shut down, officials say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All lanes of the Florida Turnpike have reopened after being shut down for hours Thursday due to a fatal traffic accident involving an overturned truck.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the tanker truck died on the scene at the intersection exit with Bird Road\/SW 40th Street in the morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They said that the truck was traveling south on the Turnpike, near Bird Rd, when it lost control, overturned, and collided into the highway&#8217;s center concrete barrier wall.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/screenshot-2026-07-16-111236-1.png#.webp\" alt=\"screenshot-2026-07-16-111236-1.png \" height=\"317\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  A truck was seen overturned on Florida&#8217;s Turnpike, causing all lanes to shut down on the morning of\u00a0 Thursday, July 16, 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Chopper 4 was on the scene where the truck was seen with an unknown liquid leaking from it and multiple fire trucks were on scene with officials in hazmat gear.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that they received the call of the accident. Both northbound and southbound of the Turnpike are closed due to the accident, FHP said.
