Hillsborough County, FL – Hillsborough County is moving forward with a major investment in its utility system after county commissioners approved more than $650 million in financing for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n
The Board of County Commissioners voted to authorize the financing package, which will support a series of capital improvement projects designed to expand capacity, modernize aging infrastructure and improve the reliability of the county’s utility system. <\/p>\n
Officials said the projects are intended to meet the needs of a growing population while maintaining dependable water and wastewater services for residents and businesses.<\/p>\n
According to county leaders, the funding will be used for improvements to drinking water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment plants, transmission pipelines, pump stations and other critical utility infrastructure. <\/p>\n
Several of the projects focus on replacing aging equipment while increasing the system’s ability to handle future demand.<\/p>\n
The financing will be provided through utility revenue bonds, which are repaid using revenue generated by the county’s water and wastewater system rather than property tax dollars.<\/p>\n
County officials said the funding structure allows the county to complete large infrastructure projects while continuing long term planning for future utility needs.<\/p>\n
Commissioners said the investment is part of Hillsborough County’s ongoing effort to strengthen essential public infrastructure and support continued residential and commercial growth throughout the region.<\/p>\n
Construction on the various projects will occur over several years as individual improvements move through the design, permitting and construction process.<\/p>\n
