GAINESVILLE, Fla.\u00a0\u2013\u00a0The University of Florida men’s tennis program and Head Coach Adam Steinberg<\/a> on Friday announced the addition of\u00a0Roko Savin\u00a0to the staff\u00a0as an Assistant Coach.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Savin comes to the Gators\u00a0after\u00a0two years in the same role at Arkansas.\u00a0Under his guidance, the Razorbacks\u00a0reached the NCAA Tournament this past season after\u00a0posting\u00a0an 18-14 record\u00a0in 2025.\u00a0Two Razorbacks earned All-SEC accolades in that time, featuring a 2026 ITA All-American in sophomore Jakub Vrba.\u00a0Prior to Arkansas, Savin enjoyed\u00a0a highly successful\u00a0four-year playing career at Utah State, where he etched his name into the top 15 of multiple all-time program records.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We are excited to welcome Roko and his family to the Gator Tennis program,” Steinberg said. “Roko is an outstanding coach, recruiter and mentor who shares our team-first vision for developing championship-caliber student-athletes both on and off the court. His experience in the SEC, combined with his success as a player and coach, makes him a tremendous addition to our program. Roko brings great energy, a strong work\u00a0ethic\u00a0and a passion for helping student-athletes reach their full potential, and I know our team will benefit from his leadership and expertise.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

In his final season at Arkansas this past spring, Savin mentored Vrba to\u00a0a sensational sophomore campaign as well as\u00a0ITA All-America honors. Sitting at No. 20 in the final ITA rankings,\u00a0Vrba\u00a0became the first Razorback to finish inside the top 20 while being named an All-American since\u00a02018.\u00a0Vrba was also crowned First Team All-SEC\u00a0\u2013 the first Razorback to do so in four seasons \u2013\u00a0en\u00a0route to a 25-10 singles record.\u00a0<\/p>\n

During Savin’s first year on staff in 2024-25, sophomore Lukas Palovic secured Second Team All-SEC status under his tutelage. Picking up 16 wins on courts one through three,\u00a0Palovic\u00a0went 10-4 at the No. 2 position for Arkansas.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Savin began his coaching career after starring at Utah State\u00a0across four seasons on the court from 2020-23. He concluded\u00a0his\u00a0time as an Aggie\u00a0ranking\u00a0eighth\u00a0all-time\u00a0in fall doubles victories (18), ninth in dual singles wins (37), 10th in overall singles victories (51) and 13th in combined wins (86).\u00a0Savin recorded double-digit victories in singles and doubles in two of his final three years at Utah State, including a 21-14 mark in singles during the 2022-23 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As a senior at Utah State, Savin achieved overall records of 21-14 in singles and 14-8 in doubles. During the fall season, Savin won five-consecutive singles matches and opened the dual season with three-straight singles victories along with a four-match doubles winning streak. At the end of his senior season, Savin received recognition as a member of the CSC Academic All-District team, the Academic All-Mountain West\u00a0team\u00a0and as an ITA Scholar-Athlete.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Prior to competing\u00a0at Utah State, Savin\u00a0held the title of\u00a0Croatian national champion as a U12, U14, U16 and U18 player. Savin was ranked in the\u00a0top-30\u00a0among European tennis players as a U14 and U16 and competed on the Junior Davis Cup team twice. Savin\u00a0was ranked as highly\u00a0as No. 1644 in the ATP Singles Rankings.\u00a0<\/p>\n
