Instead of moving away from the U.S., these storms would drift west toward Louisiana early next week.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Gulf Rain QPF.png\"\/>Expected rainfall<br \/>(FOX Weather)<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">The other less likely scenario holds that the disturbance will move north along the Southeast coast but remain weak and disorganized.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Regardless of development, an area from Fort Myers to Florida Big Bend could see a large swath of 2\u20133 inches of rain starting Saturday and lasting through Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Historically, most of the tropical systems that develop in July are so-called &#8220;homegrown threats&#8221; \u2014 systems that develop close to the American coastline. Currently, water temperatures remain above average in the Gulf and off the <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fxw_weather-news_article_main-content_article-body_2_12\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/southeast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Southeast<\/a> coast.<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\"><a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fxw_weather-news_article_main-content_article-body_2_13\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/how-to-watch-fox-weather-on-tv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">HOW TO WATCH FOX WEATHER<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Area to watch in the open Atlantic begins to sputter out<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Meanwhile, the NHC is monitoring an area for potential <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fxw_weather-news_article_main-content_article-body_2_14\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/hurricanes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">tropical development<\/a> in the Atlantic&#8217;s Main Development region, several hundred miles off the coast of West Africa, an area that previously had not seen a hint of tropical activity this <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fxw_weather-news_article_main-content_article-body_2_14\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/hurricanes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">hurricane<\/a> season.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"100%\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Atlantic Area To Watch.png\"\/>Atlantic area to watch.<br \/>(FOX Weather)<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">According to the NHC, tropical development is unlikely over the next two days, and there is only a 10% chance of development at this time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;The disturbance is expected to run into a wall of hostile winds by the weekend,&#8221; the FOX Forecast Center said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">&#8220;If there are no organizational trends over the next couple of days, the odds of future development seem very slim.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-438398f6=\"\">Strong <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fxw_weather-news_article_main-content_article-body_2_16\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/category\/wind\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">winds<\/a>, plumes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxweather.com\/search?q=saharan%20dust\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Saharan dust<\/a> and average water temperatures are creating a hostile environment for tropical development across much of the open Atlantic, in what has been a quiet start to the season.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"668\" height=\"376\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/gettyimages-2282080751-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/> <\/p>\n<p class=\"title\">FREEPORT, TEXAS &#8211; JUNE 17: Floodwater surrounds a neighborhood after Tropical Storm Arthur made landfall on June 17, 2026 in Freeport, Texas.
