It can feel like an impossible riddle figuring out when to ride one of Epic Universe\u2019s<\/a> most popular attractions!<\/p>\n

\"\"Battle at the Ministry<\/p>\n

Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry<\/a> is at the top of many people\u2019s must-do list for Epic Universe \u2014 and for good reason! It\u2019s an ultra-detailed and immersive attraction with impressive storytelling that starts before you even get to the ride itself. But if experiencing this ride is at the top of your priority list, beware that it\u2019s important to strategize when \u2014 and how \u2014 you plan to queue differently than you might expect.<\/p>\n

Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry Wait Times Are LONG<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no way around it, the line for Battle at the Ministry is often seriously long. We keep track of the wait times of all the rides in Epic Universe \u2014 and other Universal and Disney parks<\/a> \u2014 and so far this year, Battle at the Ministry has had an average wait time of 92 minutes. That\u2019s the second highest in the park, after Mine-Cart Madness at 109 minutes.<\/p>\n

Of course, that\u2019s just an average, so we\u2019ve regularly seen that number higher, with the wait often reaching two hours or more.<\/p>\n

\"\"Battle at the Ministry Wait Time<\/p>\n

There are a few different strategies that guests might use to try to experience Battle at the Ministry with a shorter wait than the standby line \u2014 let\u2019s take a closer look at the options!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a Catch for Most of the \u201cShorter Line\u201d Options<\/p>\n

Battle at the Ministry does have an Express Pass<\/a> line, which is Universal\u2019s version of a skip-the-line service. Much like Disney\u2019s Lightning Lane service<\/a>, Express Pass DOESN\u2019T mean that there will be no wait for the ride; it just allows you to skip the standby queue to use the shorter Express Pass line instead.<\/p>\n

\"\"Battle at the Ministry<\/p>\n

But wait a second before you decide to just spring for Express Pass to solve the long line dilemma! As is the case with many other Express Pass lines, the Express line for Battle at the Ministry skips part of the queue, including some sections that are important for the ride\u2019s plot. One of the spots you skip is Dolores Umbridge\u2019s office, which is essentially the ride\u2019s pre-show. If you\u2019re a huge Harry Potter fan, you\u2019ll probably want to experience the attraction through the regular line at least once to get the full story, rather than relying only on the Express Pass!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a single rider line for the attraction, but as is the case with all single rider lines, there\u2019s no guarantee that the wait will be shorter than the standby line. We\u2019ve had single rider experiences where we breezed through pretty quickly, and times where we waited just as long as standby \u2014 Team Members pull from the single rider line to fill empty seats left by other parties, so the actual wait time comes down to the luck of the draw based on how things are moving that day!<\/p>\n

So, Express Pass can get you a shorter wait, but you\u2019ll miss some of the story. And the Single Rider line might get you a shorter wait, but there\u2019s no guarantee (and you\u2019ll be split from your party). But there is one shorter line strategy that we absolutely recommend!<\/p>\n

The HUGE Perk of Early Admission<\/p>\n

One of the perks for guests staying at a Universal hotel is Early Admission<\/a>, which allows them to enjoy select attractions an hour before the park officially opens. Universal recently changed how Early Admission works at Epic Universe<\/a>, and it made a HUGE difference in the strategy we use for when to head to the queue for Battle at the Ministry!<\/p>\n

\"\"Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry<\/p>\n

In the early days of Epic Universe, Battle at the Ministry was NOT open during Early Admission. But since both hotel guests and non-hotel guests could still enter the area, everyone could start queuing for it, even though it wasn\u2019t open yet. That meant the wait times would rack up fast, plus you would have the built-in extra hour or so of waiting in line before the ride even opened. But now Battle at the Ministry IS open for hotel guests during Early Admission, and that\u2019s 100% the first ride we would head to during that early entry period! Keep in mind that the rides included can change at Universal\u2019s discretion, so remember to double-check the list before your trip to confirm.<\/p>\n

\"\"Queue for Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry<\/p>\n

On the flip side of that, if you DON\u2019T have Early Admission access, we\u2019d hold off on Battle at the Ministry in the morning and start with one of the rides that isn\u2019t open during early entry, like Stardust Racers.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t Wait Too Late to Ride!<\/p>\n

Even though it\u2019s rare to ever see a \u201cshort\u201d wait for Battle at the Ministry, the line does tend to dip later in the day. With that in mind, for guests who don\u2019t have access to Early Admission, your best bet is probably to head to Battle at the Ministry in the early to mid-afternoon, once the crowds have hopefully started to disperse a bit.<\/p>\n

\"\"The Queue<\/p>\n

One important caveat, though \u2014 the queue for Battle at the Ministry sometimes closes before the park if it hits capacity, so don\u2019t try to wait until the last minute to get in line! If it\u2019s an absolute must-do, we\u2019d plan to head to the queue at least a few hours before park closing to be on the safe side.<\/p>\n

\"\"Umbridge\u2019s office<\/p>\n

To sum it up \u2014 if Battle at the Ministry is open during Early Admission during your trip and you have access to the perk, we\u2019d absolutely head to the ride first thing. And for other guests without Early Admission, we\u2019d wait until around mid-afternoon to hop in line to give the crowd a chance to clear out a bit. As is the case with all things theme park, the details are subject to change, so make sure to double-check the details before your trip and plan accordingly!<\/p>\n
