LEESBURG, Va. \u2013 Thorleifur \u00dalfarsson scored a late equalizer as Loudoun United FC played to a 1-1 draw against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Segra Field on Saturday night as the Rowdies twice hit the woodwork after Pedro Dolabella had opened the scoring from the penalty spot.<\/p>\n
Loudoun had a pair of early chances to go ahead as Thorleifur \u00dalfarsson and Richie Aman were both denied by Rowdies goalkeeper Jahmali Waite. The Rowdies took the lead midway through the first half, however, as Pedro Dolabella was ruled to have been fouled in the box while making an attempt at a cross, and the Brazilian slotted home himself and slotted home to the right corner.<\/p>\n
Tampa Bay almost doubled its lead just past the half-hour mark when Evan Conway hit the right post with a shot from just outside the penalty area, while the visitors appeared have added to their lead early in the second half, only for the offside flag to be raised on Louis Perez. Loudoun hit back with eight minutes to go, however, as \u00dalfarsson put home the rebound after a good shot by Arqu\u00edmides Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez was only parried by Waite. <\/p>\n
The Rowdies almost claimed a late winner, only for Charlie Ostrem\u2019s turning effort to go over the crossbar, while in stoppage time a header by Karsen Henderlong hit the left post off a corner kick, but a winner failed to materialize as the points were shared. <\/p>\n
