SWEETWATER, Fla. \u2014 A 47-year-old homeless woman was arrested after police say she threatened an employee with a nail clipper while trying to swipe a pack of cigarettes at a supermarket in Sweetwater late Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
It happened around 10 a.m. at Sedano\u2019s Supermarkets, located at 10720 W. Flagler Street. <\/p>\n
According to an arrest report, Katricia Humphrey asked for a box of cigarettes and told staff she would pay for them later. <\/p>\n
When her request was denied and she was asked to leave, Sweetwater police say Humphrey became irate.<\/p>\n
They said Humphrey then armed herself with a nail clipper and began threatening the store employee, who is 70 years old, as she moved toward him and went behind the counter. <\/p>\n
Police said she grabbed the cigarettes while continuing to make stabbing gestures and told the victim, \u201cYou will die,\u201d placing him in fear for his life.<\/p>\n
The employee pushed Humphrey away in self-defense and recovered the cigarettes, valued at $13.79, according to the report. Bystanders helped remove Humphrey from the store until officers arrived and took her into custody. <\/p>\n
Jail records show she is facing one count each of aggravated assault on a person 65 years or older with a deadly weapon, armed robbery with a weapon, and petty theft.<\/p>\n
As of Wednesday, she was being held on a $15,001 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. <\/p>\n
