{"id":346148,"date":"2026-07-20T16:10:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T16:10:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/346148\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T16:10:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T16:10:12","slug":"tony-award-winner-buena-vista-social-club-heads-to-orlando","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/346148\/","title":{"rendered":"Tony Award winner Buena Vista Social Club heads to Orlando"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Single tickets are now on sale for the Orlando premiere of &#8220;Buena Vista Social Club&#8221; at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The musical will run Oct. 20 through Oct. 25 at Walt Disney Theater.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Inspired by the artists behind the iconic album, the production follows legendary Cuban singer Omara Portuondo as she returns to the recording studio and confronts her past.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The musical features songs from Cuba&#8217;s golden age and tells its story through a combination of live music, dance and memories of Havana.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Buena Vista Social Club&#8221; earned four competitive Tony Awards in 2025, including awards for featured actress Natalie Venetia Belcon, sound design, choreography and orchestrations. The musicians in the show&#8217;s band also received a <a data-ylk=\"slk:Special Tony Award;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tonyawards.com\/shows\/buena-vista-social-club\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Special Tony Award<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The original Broadway cast recording later won the Grammy Award for best musical theater album.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The production is directed by Saheem Ali, with choreography by Patricia Delgado and Justin Peck.
