{"id":346859,"date":"2026-07-21T03:15:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T03:15:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/346859\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T03:15:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T03:15:09","slug":"universal-orlando-hires-ride-engineer-possibly-for-lost-continent-replacement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/346859\/","title":{"rendered":"Universal Orlando Hires Ride Engineer, Possibly for Lost Continent Replacement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A recently filed construction permit from Universal Orlando Resort could be for a new ride.<\/p>\n<p>Universal Construction Permit<a data-fslightbox=\"1\" data-type=\"image\" aria-label=\"Open fullscreen lightbox with current image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/uor-ioa-lost-continent-statue-scaled.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/uor-ioa-lost-continent-statue-scaled.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1434258\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/selfservice.or.occompt.com\/ssweb\/document\/DOC4324S1905?search=DOCSEARCH2959S2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" aria-describedby=\"external-link-warning\">Notice of Commencement<\/a> contracts theme park ride engineer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.garmendale.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" aria-describedby=\"external-link-warning\">Garmendale<\/a> for \u201cEquipment Install.\u201d The description doesn\u2019t give much intel and the address is generic but The Lost Continent area at Universal Islands of Adventure is the only location a new ride is expected any time soon (other than Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift already under construction at Universal Studios Florida).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lost Continent is currently being demolished for something new, but Universal hasn\u2019t revealed what. <a href=\"https:\/\/wdwnt.com\/2026\/06\/sinbad-theater-totally-demolished-as-lost-continent-disappears-at-universal-islands-of-adventure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" aria-describedby=\"external-link-warning\">The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad theater was completely torn down<\/a> and crews are now in the process of destroying the <a href=\"https:\/\/wdwnt.com\/2026\/07\/poseidons-fury-show-building-demolition-begins-at-universal-islands-of-adventure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" aria-describedby=\"external-link-warning\">Poseidon\u2019s Fury building<\/a>, confirming whatever new land is coming to the space won\u2019t reuse these buildings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That means the new land will need brand-new attractions. Garmendale could be working on one of these.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Garmendale has worked with Universal before, including on the gating system for Jurassic World VelociCoaster and other Jurassic rides around the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That said, it\u2019s possible Garmendale is working on the <a href=\"https:\/\/wdwnt.com\/2026\/03\/jurassic-park-river-adventure-replaces-old-track-aerial-photos-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" aria-describedby=\"external-link-warning\">refurbishment of Jurassic Park River Adventure<\/a> at Islands of Adventure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Their ride systems include peoplemovers, motion simulators, spinners, battery powered boats,  and trains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What do you hope replaces The Lost Continent?
