ORLANDO, Fla. \u2013 Orlando police arrested a man accused of stabbing a rideshare driver on Monday morning, according to the police department.<\/p>\n
In a release, police said they responded to the area of East Marks Street and Kenilworth Terrace after receiving reports about the stabbing.<\/p>\n
\u201cOfficers learned that a suspect stabbed an (sic) rideshare driver who refused to provide a ride without a request through the rideshare app,\u201d the release reads.<\/p>\n
Afterward, the suspect \u2014 identified as Jovaughn Matthie, 42 \u2014 fled the scene but was found shortly thereafter at a nearby restaurant, where officers took him into custody, police explained.<\/p>\n
Now, Matthie faces charges of resisting arrest without violence and attempted second-degree murder.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo protect the integrity of the investigation and ensure the facts are thoroughly established, we are unable to provide additional information at this time,\u201d the release continues.<\/p>\n
