TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Godby\u2019s Jamarin Simmons is one of the top wide receivers in the country. He\u2019s captured offers from over two dozen Division I programs, and now Nike has taken notice.<\/p>\n
Simmons is one of just 11 high school players nationwide to sign an NIL deal with the brand, and he will receive individual support from the brand, both in performance, training, and support with media and content.<\/p>\n
Simmons said someone from Nike called him, and he said he was excited the opportunity was offered to him. He said he believes he got the deal after the company took notice of not just his talent, but the way he conducts himself on and off the field.<\/p>\n
He said it\u2019s nice to be recognized, as he\u2019s worked hard to get here, and he\u2019s happy to be an example for the 850.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot many kids make it out to do what I\u2019m going to go do,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a blessing. They just look up to me, and they text me all the time and ask for gloves and stuff like that. I\u2019m going to help them out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Simmons is a five star recruit committed to Clemson, and he\u2019s excited to use the deal to give back to his school and the youth in Tallahassee.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a blessing. You don\u2019t get too many opportunities like this,\u201d added head coach John Holston. \u201cThe fact that he put in this work and put himself in this position and he\u2019s getting the rewards from it, you can\u2019t ask for more from a high school kid.\u201d<\/p>\n
