Plantation, FL – A 4-year-old boy was taken to a hospital Saturday night after being found unresponsive in the water during a near drowning incident in Plantation.<\/p>\n
According to Plantation Police, officers responded around 7:46 p.m. to a reported drowning at 4650 W. Broward Blvd. <\/p>\n
Authorities said the child was removed from the water by an adult, who immediately began performing CPR before police officers and fire rescue personnel arrived.<\/p>\n
Emergency responders provided additional medical care at the scene before transporting the child to Broward Health Medical Center. <\/p>\n
Police said the boy remained in critical but stable condition.<\/p>\n
Authorities have not released additional details about what led to the incident, and an investigation into the near drowning remains underway.<\/p>\n
The case follows several other recent water related emergencies involving children across South Florida. <\/p>\n
Officials previously reported a 2-year-old child nearly drowned in North Lauderdale. <\/p>\n
Earlier, a 2-year-old boy died after being found in a Plantation lake.<\/p>\n
Last month, a 14-year-old boy drowned while swimming near North Redland Road and Northwest 12th Street.<\/p>\n
His family later filed a lawsuit against three companies, alleging the property owners failed to properly maintain and secure the area.<\/p>\n
The Florida Department of Health warns that drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death among children ages 1 to 4 in the state.<\/p>\n
