For a restaurant overlooking artist Jefr\u00eb\u2019s \u201cHeart in the Park\u201d sculpture, the name Amore (which means love in Italian) just seemed to fit Kyle Green\u2019s new Port St. Lucie outpost. \u201cIt reminds me of the Chicago Bean,\u201d the Stuart resident says of the 73-foot reflective structure that\u2019s said to be the world\u2019s tallest heart-shaped sculpture.<\/p>\n

Since opening his first restaurant in 2017, Greene has grown his stable of local eateries at an exponential rate; this summer\u2019s opening of Amore Italian Chophouse<\/a> marks his eighth door.<\/p>\n

Here, guests are greeted by what\u2019s called \u201cThe Dough Show.\u201d Kitchen staff are on full display as they roll out dough for pizza, make homemade pasta, and mix ingredients for Amore\u2019s signature three-layer tiramisu. \u201cPeople say, \u2018This is the best tiramisu I\u2019ve ever had, next to my mother\u2019s,\u2019\u201d Greene explains. \u201cI\u2019m very happy being number two next to mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Love is at the center of everything Greene does. In honor of his first date with his now-wife, (where they shared a classic sidecar cocktail), Amore serves up the First Date\u2014made with Courvoisier, Cointreau, and house-made lemon thyme shrub. Other must-try cocktails include the Raspberry Kiss (360 Vodka, house-made limoncello, and raspberry pur\u00e9e) and the Tuscan Sunset (a Moscow mule with added Italian flair thanks to Aperol, vodka, lime, and ginger beer). Grab a drink at Aperitivo Hour menu\u2014available daily with discounted drinks and some exclusive menu items.<\/p>\n

When it comes to mains, don\u2019t miss Amore\u2019s colossal fresh-baked lasagna. \u201cIt\u2019s two to three layers of fresh pasta sheets, marinara, ricotta, mozzarella, and chopped short rib,\u201d explains Greene. \u201cThe thing\u2019s as big as a skyscraper and as wide as a city block. Guests tell me this lasagna is better than the lasagnas in Italy.\u201d Or if pasta isn\u2019t for you, go for one of chef de cuisine Rafael Corchado\u2019s recommendations. \u201cWe have a Tuscan marinated ribeye that we hard sear on the plancha,\u201d he says. As for his favorite? \u201cThe Beet and Burrata salad: the marriage of the stracciatella and pickled beets give it a nice hearty, creamy flavor,\u201d he says. <\/p>\n
