Former Sen. Loranne Ausley is outspending and outraising her opponents in Tallahassee\u2019s fast-approaching mayoral race<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to campaign finance reports, Ausley spent $105,000 between June 27 and July 10, more than opponents Michael Foust, Jeremy Matlow\u00a0and Daryl Parks.<\/p>\n

Ausley\u2019s expenditures for the latest reporting period include $77,000 on mailers and advertising and $26,000 on consulting costs.<\/p>\n

Parks spent the next most with $71,000. That included $14,000 on advertising, $10,000 on field operations and $29,000 on a Richmond, Virginia-based marketing firm.<\/p>\n

Ausley and Parks have now raised and spent nearly identical totals since the start of the campaign. Ausley has raised $315,000 and spent $267,000, while Parks reports raising $313,000 and spending $263,000. Since June 13, Ausley has raised $45,000, narrowly overtaking Parks as the race\u2019s leading fundraiser.<\/p>\n

That total includes $12,000 raised by Ausley between June 27 and July 10. Recent contributions for Ausley include $500 from the pro-choice Ruth\u2019s List Florida political committee and $100 from Raj Goyle, a candidate for New York State Comptroller. Most other donors were individuals who reside in Tallahassee.<\/p>\n

Parks, a prominent Tallahassee civil rights lawyer, raised just shy of $10,000 for the last reporting period. He unsuccessfully challenged Republican Sen. Corey Simon in 2024, who himself unseated Ausley in 2022.<\/p>\n

Matlow, a sitting City Commissioner who has sparred with retiring Mayor John Dailey, spent $18,000 in the latest period, $10,500 of which was labeled as consulting. He also brought in $5,400 in new contributions, including $1,000 from the AFL-CIO.<\/p>\n

To date, he has raised $180,000 and spent $95,000. He has the most cash on hand, with $87,000 remaining.<\/p>\n

Foust, an IT entrepreneur and the field\u2019s lone Republican, reported just $600 in new contributions. He has raised just $6,000 to date.<\/p>\n

A new poll<\/a> released this week finds Ausley leading the field with 29% support, followed by Matlow at 24%, Parks at 14% and Foust at 3%. However, 31% were still undecided exactly four weeks out from the Aug. 18 Primary.<\/p>\n

If no candidate wins more than 50% of the vote in August, the top two vote-getters will advance to a November runoff. In 2022, Dailey narrowly finished second in the first round of voting before defeating challenger Kristin Dozier in the General Election.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Former Sen.
