PALM CITY, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 A brush fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in a heavily wooded area of Palm City, prompting a rapid response from Martin County Fire Rescue and forestry officials.<\/p>\n

The fire, which broke out near 7800 SW Rattlesnake Run, scorched around five acres of land. Photos taken at the scene show the flames and smoke. <\/p>\n

MCFR reports that the blaze is slow-moving and currently poses no threat to nearby structures, thanks in part to a pond that is helping to contain its spread.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews arrived on the scene quickly, and forestry personnel are actively working to manage the fire. The area is densely wooded, which has complicated access, but natural barriers have helped limit the fire\u2019s movement.<\/p>\n

Authorities are urging residents to avoid the area to ensure the safety of emergency responders and allow firefighting efforts to continue without interruption.<\/p>\n
